AMS Financial Group to offer virtual certification and notarization services

Many businesses are now working remotely as a result of COVID-19.

Usual processes for execution of contracts, verification of KYC / due diligence, and certification and notarization of documentation may become challenging. Under normal circumstances, executing corporate documents is a relatively simple process. Some documents only require a signature, while other documents need to be notarized.  However, due to the many shelter-in-place policies being put in place, most signatories to corporate documents such as directors and officers, are now working from home and may not want to be within 2 meters of another person.  As a reaction many governments and organisations around the world now have or are passing laws to facilitate easier certifications and notarizations.

Being at the forefront of the latest developments, AMS offer an online virtual certification and notarization service in different time zones.

Some practical points when seeking more information on our on-line legalisation services include;

–   The person seeking the certification / notarization must present valid photo ID during the video conference, not merely transmit it prior to or after;

–  The video conference must allow for direct interaction between the person and our lawyers / notary (e.g., no pre-recorded videos of the person signing the document);

–  In case of legal documents such as a real estate or loan transaction, the person must transmit by fax or electronic means a legible copy of the signed document directly on the same date it was signed.

Please also note that the BVI Governor’s office remains open for apostille services.  AMS has special permission to deliver and pick up documentation from the BVI Governor’s office in emergency situations.

At present no couriers are leaving the BVI so notarized and apostilled copies of documents will be sent by email.
